Are you like most of us stranded at home?

Are you bored and you think that you have nothing to do; well we are here to recommend some things to do, while you are helping to flatten the curve. In one of our previous posts you can find 5 Sci-Fi books that you could read to pass the time.

We will remain in the Sci-Fi genre but instead of books, this time we focus on the silver screen. We will also try to keep this list short, only suggesting 5 movies to watch.

BLADE RUNNER

Ridley Scott’s neo-noir masterpiece. A very interesting adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s science fiction novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep”.

If you can watch the Director’s Cut or the Final Cut versions.

2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY

A movie where every scene is like a painting; Stanley Kubrick’s Sci-Fi work of genius. Also another one based on a book. A highly controversial movie, some love it some hate it. Watch it and decide which side are you on.

MAD MAX

If you liked the recent reboot, then you should go back and watch the original. A story of an Australian policeman trying to find the murderers of his family in a post-apocalyptic future. Watch a young Mel Gibson in this dystopian action thriller from director George Miller.

ROBOCOP

How can we make a Sci-Fi movies list without including maybe the one of the smartest Sci-Fi films that through the use of violence finds a way to satirise the modern western culture. Verhoeven’s corporation controlled Detroit paints a bleak near future.

AKIRA

We couldn’t in good faith to conclude this list without a good cyber punk film. This phenomenal movie introduced the world to Japanese anime. Akira’s post-apocalyptic world as displayed by Katsuhiro Ôtomo is bloody and violent, and it has influenced myriad of movies since its release in 1988.

And with that, you have five fantastic movies to watch, while waiting this pandemic to pass. We hope that you will enjoy them.

And as always these days, please stay home and stay safe.
